Exam week for sem 7 and 9

i've taken quite a while to update the blog..
these days.. i'm not really getting enough motivation to write..
haha maybe in a few weeks.. more than enough ideas.. they keep drifting in and out..
anyway i'll be finishing sem 8 in 2 weeks and there's a one week holiday(i think)
so basically i'll use that up to blog.. (possibly)

anyway.. i've changed the songs for the blog.. a bit annoying to hear the same songs and seeing as it is exams week.. putting some motivational songs(in my opinion) to replace the old ones for now..

the joy of reading..

yep.. you read correctly.. but i don't mean reading anything academic like medical textbooks or anything to that tune.. that would actually be rather depressing..

i'm actually talking about books.. story books mind you that capture the imagination of a reader..
basically i'm referring to the upcoming harry potter which is supposedly going to be released today..

i dare say that i can't really be classed as an avid reader.. if anything my cup of tea would be more of comic books that kinda of thing.. but once in a blue moon.. i would pick up a book which may or may not turn out to be actually quite decent..

i can still remember my early reading activities.. it would be the small little thin books with a moral at the end of the story.. be it malay or english.. i still remember some of them.. Siapa Tamak Dia Rugi, Honesty , Courage, etc2

I think the first real book that i read would be.. Treasure Island.. reading about the notoriety of Long John Silver and what not.. can't really remember it now.. but i still have the book at home.. then i moved on to Enid Blyton's books.. Mr Pink Thistle(sounds so gayish) ( or was it Green. or patrick.. there was a Thistle i remember..) i had a whole collection of Enid Blyton and also a fair share of comic books.. i basically read quite a few during the early days.. like Sang Gedembai, Folk Stories of South East Asia, Tragedi berapa Oktober about a plane crash, Misteri Kuda tak berkepala.. etc2

Then i graduated to reading about The Fantastic Five, The Hardy Boys(not the ones in the WWF though..) and quite a few others.. This was also accompanied by an assortment of comics like Doraemon, Dragon Ball and Alam Perwira haha... still have most of these books at home though my mother gave away my Doraemon collection to my cousin who doesn't really know how to take care of those books..

Well.. i feel reading has actually enhanced my abilities of daydreaming.. haha.. i can say i quite thoroughly enjoy reading and i especially like mysteries and also books on history.
when i started MRSM in Form 4 .. my sister introduced me to The Hobbit the prequel to Lord of the Rings and it was very enamoring and absorbing.. i can honestly say that i read Lord of The Rings before there were any plans on making a movie on it.. at the time i wasn't even reading Harry Potter at all.. thought of it more of a children's book..
well coming back to The Hobbit and LOTR.. by Tolkien.. you couldn't help but be amazed by the author.. who managed to come up with an Elven language.. he is quite the story teller.. sometimes i would have to skip a few pages due to his fondness of describing every scene in rich detail.. too rich in my case..

well.. i would say the thing that made me started reading Harry Potter would be the first movie Harry Potter and the Philosopher's stone..(or sorcerer's stone) if ur from America...
after that i started reading all the books and i think i set a record of reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince which was around 600 pages in maybe 12 hours.. i stopped for prayers , food and calls of nature.. i can say that the last book built the suspense for the last book and i can't really wait for it to come out.. i've pre booked the book.. so basically going to pick it up tomorrow.. so bracing myself for a reading marathon then..
try it sometime.. you'll find it satisfying insya-Allah..
reading = food for the brain..

p/s: you learn more from books about honour,courage,honesty and virtues than when you watch a sitting of the Malaysian parliament..
heck, you learn more moral values by watching the Transformers movie than from the Malaysian parliament..

The tale of the Three..

one month ago , i got a message from Gabby who just came back from Calgary.. he wanted to come down to Seremban but due to exams and holiday the timing was a bit off.. so i asked him to come back a bit later.. now supposedly he's in Sibu.. Oi Gab.. turun aa seremban..

well on the 4th of July Zafarul Asyraf@Cherap@Speaker balik.. after giving me a two day notice..
ape daaaa.. came to seremban.. to see *uhuk*biena*uhuk* someone.. biasa le sambut harijadi..
so basically went and fetched him from KLIA on Wednesday.. he had a connecting flight from Moscow to Dubai then to KL.. stayed here for a few days and went back to Kelantan during the weekend.. thanks for the gift mate..

and i just got off the phone with lydia yg baru saja balik dari Padang,Indonesia.. apparently she saw Cherap at the airport when she arrived in Kelantan on thursday... quite ironic that...

also during the weekend.. ada org belanja mcdonalds and a day trip to Banting.. haha
it's nice to see some familiar faces back..

The tale of a throbbing headache... and a tyre

so basically i haven't posted(anything that can actually be called a post) for quite a while...
this is chiefly due to the fact i was occupied with a few things.. mainly the major exams posting..
ortho punya posting..

even the one week break after the posting i was occupied with a few things.. i went to singapore together with my sister for a trip... she wanted to go and shop there.. i thought.. what the heck.. rather than stay at home and loaf.. better get something done during the holidays...

now.. i've just finished my ENT posting.. and i will soon proceed on to my Dermatology posting..
i did ENT for 2 weeks.. and Dr. Elango rocks.. haha maybe an over exaggeration.. but who gives a damn..

and currently i have a very bad headache..

Presenting complaint :

Headache of 3 hours duration after watching Harry Potter the Order of the Phoenix

History of Presenting complaint :

headache started after watching Harry Potter which was excruciatingly painful.. the movie i mean.. the headache is maybe at 3 from a scale of 10 with 10 being the most severe..
there is past history of tension type headache which is of a throbbing nature , and bilateral , patient describes the pain as being similar to the head being squeezed by a band..
there is no photophobia.. no vomiting and no fever..
aggravating and precepitating factors would be loud noises and litter bugs and inconsiderate Malaysian drivers..
being called by Hewlett-Packard today saying that my old computer's battery is spoiled and that i need to stump up RM560 for a replacement battery..
discovering the fact that stumping up Rm300 on an extended warranty two years ago did not cover for the battery
the fact that probably my computer has been infected with viruses due to the pendrives used by my posting group members.. (get an antivirus guys and girls.. a proper one.. AVGfree isn't a proper one)
relieving factors : apparently panadol is not helping that much.. i've tried popping 2 panadols.. maybe i'll sleep it off , calling certain people, blogging maybe, watching liverpool purchasing ryan babel , fernando torres and yossi benayoun...

Past Medical History :

Not on any anti-psychotics.. was previously on gabapentin for neuropathic pain.. gabapentin also doubled up as an anti-convulsant hahaha..
prolapsed intervertebral disc.. apparently this cropped up again yesterday after straining myself with classes the whole day and topping it off with futsal..
no other significant history that i would like to divulge..

Drug History :
on long term medication for allergic rhinitis.. on loratadine..

Social history:
Patient does not drink or consume alcohol..
Patient apparently eats a lot.. and drinks fluid a lot more..
the patient is possibly psychotic and did mention that he wanted to seek retribution on malaysian litterbugs and drivers who don't give a signal when going into a junction and generally obtained their driving license in apparently Flying academies who give out LESEN TERBANG..
the patient is currently in university.. however he is unsure whether he is studying or working there. he seems to be disoriented to time and place.. haha just kidding..

Systemic review:
patient is currently anhedonic and amotivational
patient denies any suicidal ideation but is possibly homicidal.. he just gave an evil eye to an inconsiderate driver who trew a rambutan skin out of his/her car window..
patient is currently thirsty and would appreciate a glass of plain water..

No other significant history or abnormalities detected on physical examination except a macroabdomen.. if that's a proper term.. haha

got my results for major postings on thursday
so basically they were 3 main subjects..
being family medicine , psychiatry and orthopaedic..

so i'll start off with the bad news first..

Family medicine
Clinical examination D+
SAQ B-

i think i expected the result for clinical examination actually.. i screwed up the first station and did averagely for the 2nd station.. but a D+ would floor a normal sane person .. not really implying i'm a normal sane person though..

i have a bone to pick with the SAQ though.. ironically out of the 3 written papers i did.. i felt that Family Medicine was the one i did the best.. but.. getting a B- for it.. is actually disappointing..

moving on to better news..
Psychiatry A-
Orthopaedics B+

of the 3 papers ortho was the hardest.. but maybe it helps when you have an interest in the subject..
for psychiatry.. a bit shocked to get an A- . but alhamdulilah.. i think during the psych paper i invented a few new theories and method of management.. due to the fact that the paper was a bit open ended with the questions. possibly..

well.. i'm grateful for the results in truth.. it could have been worse..

moving on to another story..
4 weeks ago i when i was driving back from PJ to Seremban..
my car tyre.. burst.. literally.. and it wasn't because of a puncture or anything.. still unsure of the cause.. possibly because the tire was maybe a bit under inflated..
a bit shaken up by that still.. and i was put back quite a few ringgit for new tyres.. huuhuhu





well you can see.. it's quite a bad. at first when i took it off.. it was still quite hot.. it burst about a few hundred meters from the Rasah exit.. and when it happened i was next to bus..
so basically i wasn't really sure what the weird sound was at first.. thought it was the sound of the engine from the bus.. but when i was overtaken.. the sound was still there.. so to cut a story short.. saw sparks flying a bit.. managed to reach a 100 m before the rasah pd toll and actually get off the highway.. just didn't make it to the toll gate..
to make things worse.. the spare tyre was punctured.. and there was no car jack in the car..
so basically had to call pakcik to trouble him..
as it was a sunday.. we couldn't find a suitable tyre shop.. so tried calling a few of my friends to help out.. especially the one driving a proton.. so basically at first i called kash..
the tyre was okeh it was just that the rim was a bit too small.. my tyre was 185/60/R14 his tyre was R13.. so tried calling fahzie who drove a PROTON SATRIA (even the same colour)
tried the tyre.. and it didn't fit.. because of the fact that my car uses a disc brake.. quite odd.. seing as we both drove a satria.. so then i called. azman and annas.. annas drove a tyre .. salah2.. satria neo.. azman drove a van
to cut the story short.. annas punya tyre terlampau kecik.. azman punya tyre too big but the rim fit..
in the process of waiting.. i think 4 people came up to try and rip me off with quite expensive tyres..
so finally.. rizal came.. he drove a savvy.. he brought a donut tyre.. but thank god it fit.. Alhamdulilah...
drove around with the tyre for two days.
anyway. just wanted to say thanks to all that helped.. in particular pakcik,annas,azman,rizal,yuhana,kash... and all the others..
the tyre burst around 7.30pm.. finally managed to get the car up and running at around 11.30 pm..

well, what i've learned from this episode is to make sure that you should check whether your spare tyre has a 2 inch screw puncturing it.. aaaarrrghh..

oh and also to check tyre pressure regularly and i'm a bit more cautious these days hopefully
